1. Website descriptions

Very few antique maps are in perfect condition. The passage of time and the handling of the paper inevitably mean that most have imperfections of one kind or another – tears, offsetting or age-browning. The website descriptions are produced to reflect as accurately as possible the overall condition of each item. I always try to describe defects and faults with as much accuracy as possible.

Condition: maps are described using the following convention

(VG) Very Good Condition
Clean and bright, with crisp engraved lines. On sound paper with few imperfections in the image. Occasional small tears (in margin only), pinholes or minor discolouration. Very good quality colouring.
(G) Good Condition
No significant imperfections. Minor spotting, foxing, short separations on centerfold with no image loss, or overall age toning may be present. May have narrow margins but paper is still sound. Good colouring.
(F) Fair Condition
Noticeable imperfections. Scattered foxing or spotting. Long separations on centerfold or tears entering image which can be easily repaired. Colour may be slightly faded.

Sizes are metric cm. Most of my maps and plans are either VG or G.

Please note that the prices shown online are as quoted at the time and I reserve the right to amend, revise or change them at any time. Periodic pricing reviews are undertaken.

3. Taxes & VAT

4. Orders

Unless otherwise agreed in advance, payment &/or settlement arrangements should be made with your order.

5. Returns

Although items are described with as much accuracy and detail as possible, if for any reason an order should not prove to a retail customer’s satisfaction, then they are entitled to return the item to me within 5 days of receipt with the guarantee of a full refund provided it is returned in the same condition as it was sent. Advance notification should be made to me prior to any item’s intended return and within the 5-day period after customer receipt. This does not apply to folding maps.

6. Ownership

Full title to all goods remains with myself until settlement has been received in full.

7. Packing, Postage and Shipping

Items are sent either rolled in robust cardboard tubes or flat-packed in hard cardboard. All deliveries are insured for their purchase price. If the item does not arrive, you will receive your money back in full. If it arrives damaged, or if you do not like it when it arrives, it can be returned (appropriately packed) and a refund will be given (see above).

Postage within the UK and overseas will be charged extra on all shipments. All items will usually be dispatched in strong cardboard tubes or flat packages via Royal Mail and indicative prices are:

• UK: £7

• Europe: £14

• Rest of the World: £17

UK items are normally sent by ''Special Delivery Next Day'' and non-UK items by ''Airsure''. Both include insurance. Please note these prices are a guideline.

An item's delivery schedule is ultimately dependent upon the internal postal services of the delivery country and may also be affected by events beyond my control, for example local customs delays etc.
