About this deal

Throughout the closed season development work continued and the park revealed key information about the ride, hyping up Sub-Terra's close links to the original Nemesis legend. Nemesis Sub-Terra is a drop tower dark ride located at Alton Towers theme park in Staffordshire, United Kingdom. The ride opened to the public on 24 March 2012. Its theme is focused on the discovery of a nest of eggs in a network of caves, an extension of the theme and concept of the park's Nemesis roller coaster that opened in 1994. Great online store for board games. They always arrive perfectly and undamaged which is important to me. There are ten characters in the base box that vary between rogues, healers and combat-focused archetypes. Playing with a team that is spread over these different classes will benefit your team massively. You will need someone who can explore fast, someone who can fight and possibly someone who is defensive or can heal more effectively than regular players can. This way you have a nice balanced team that can hopefully overcome anything this pesky volcano throws at you. Your success in Sub Terra is determined by how many cavers successfully make it to the exit before you run out of time. No cavers left behind? You’ve won yourselves a gold award, well done! One caver left behind gets you a silver and two cavers left behind gets you a bronze. Three or more cavers left behind? There are no awards to be had here, this only means defeat, time to reshuffle those tiles and try again! Final Thoughts

After you have taken your actions you roll the hazard die, this die is death incarnate and will repeatedly annoy and frustrate the team, which I suppose, is its job after all. This die has a few possible outcomes from setting off traps, making your character stumble or even spawning and activating the Guardians. Guardians are defenders of the temple and want nothing more than to leave all your carcasses lifeless on the volcano floor. The ride never really managed to rise above its bumpy arrival into the park. Whilst the modifications were certainly an improvement on the original version of the ride, the height clearance of the building meant that the drop towers at the heart of Sub-Terra were too short to offer any real thrill. This meant that the attraction was too scary for some (due to the storyline and live action elements) and too tame for others (due to the actual ride itself), leaving an increasingly small segment of guests to enjoy the ride in its entirety. To begin the game the starting tile is placed, and all players place their caver pieces (hard hat wearing meeples) onto the starting tile. Each round of the game consists of four phases:

Horror Phase – There can be up to three horrors in the cave at any time and each of them will move one space towards the nearest caver during each horror phase. If a horror lands on the same space as a caver, the caver immediately loses all health and becomes unconscious. The layout of Nemesis broke the rules [...] What we’re doing in twisted steel is what a scriptwriter does with words.” - John Wardley, ride designer. And then the maintenance issues began - it was not long before the restraints on the drop towers began to cause issues and, by its third year in the park, Sub-Terra was experiencing long periods of downtime. After one final period of maintenance, the ride reopened in June 2015 with all new and very much more restrictive restraints, which it was hoped would finally solve the ride's reliability. But it was not to be, and the ride would close again on 8th August of the same year, this time for the long term. Over the years, the ride gained something of a mythical status, as rumour often swirled of a possible re-emergence or replacement for the ride, but had we been sub-terrorised for the final time? The ride remained standing, but not operating, within the Phalanx Facility until 2023, when it was announced the ride would indeed operate once again.

Since the end of the 2015 season, Nemesis Sub-Terra remained standing but not operating with no indication as to when, or even if, it would reopen. and with renewed interest in the Phalanx generated by the park's marketing department, rumours began spreading that Nemesis Sub-Terra could be reopening. Investigation adds 15 new item cards that grant your cavers powerful abilities. Recover them from the cave floor, or choose the ruthless Agent who starts fully equipped. The darkness hides many things. Be prepared. During its closure in 2018 and 2019, the Sub Terra building hosted the scare attraction Project 42 for Scarefest, the park's annual Halloween event. The attraction made use of most the interior of the original attraction and was themed around a viral outbreak, where test subjects had developed animalistic qualities. The caver boards and the cave tiles are made from high-quality cardboard and despite having made it to my table many times none of the pieces are showing any signs of wear and tear. Sub Terra could make a great gateway game for newcomers to the hobby as there isn’t an overwhelming number of rules to explain before getting started. managed to open any new attraction the previous year. Rumours had it that they were to introduce a Shrek attraction in the old Ice Show tent, but this never rollercoaster. Alton Towers' aim was to use the successful Nemesis legend to create a second ride experience. It was badly needed: the park hadn't accident, possibly due to the decreaed visitor numbers and the high staff costs needed to run the attraction. It officially remained Standing But Not Operating

This addition to the game changes the strategy and how you think about creating your cave system as you must think of your return journey. I really enjoyed this new way of viewing the cave and felt like I was more aware of how I could move through the cave in different ways and was even more wary of drawing tiles that would create issues in the future. For Easter 2012, Sub Terra's marketing took to the streets as part of the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt in London, which included a Sub Terra egg hanging in St Christopher's Place off Oxford Street. Elsewhere in the capital, the park continued their campaign of fear by taking over one of the lifts in a London shopping centre, creating a 'bottomless lift shaft' to give shoppers a fright when they stepped inside.SubTerra MCX motorway communications chambers, used in conjunction with the Apex range of covers & frames, Ridgiduct and Ridgicoil cable protection and Comtite ducting plugs, offer the complete solution for the installation of highway communications cables.
